because I am fabulous and fearless...well at least sometimes. ;-) I think we all have a bit of fear in us, but I have never let that stand in my way. I move forward despite my apprehensions or fear. I am a small town girl, who has always had big dreams. After graduating at the top of my class from Ohio State, I moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in fashion. I am now working for a brand that I absolutely love and believe in. I am a firm believer that if you have the faith and do the work...God has no choice but to reward you. I am a Black Boy because I understand and live by this principle.

because I overcame the odds. I grew up off of Crenshaw and Imperial Highway in a single parent home with a drug addicted father, and I have achieved things that I am told takes a lifetime...from my accolades as an athlete to the completion of law school, and now my second career as a female DJ. Black Boy is me. I face adversity the same way I face my success...with no fear. NICKIE ROBINSON

Why am I a black boy you ask....The true character of a black boy isn't derived from the color, but rather the spirit possessed within? I am a black boy because I am a law school student who is driven, not by the dollars, but by the ability to have and attain knowledge that few people have.
I am a black boy because I am a young sports agent, who wants to help those young men who are privileged with riches, but not the knowledge to attain wealth I believe they should have.
I am a black boy because I follow a plan, God's plan. I am a black boy because I aspire to be better than average. I am a black boy because I dream to be more than just a boy. I want to be a black boy. TROY BROWN

as a Latin female, I know what it is like to face adversity. I know what it feels like to have others look down on you and make you feel that you are "not as good". Am I angry? Am I bitter? ABSOLUTLEY NOT! I am so thankful, because as a result of all of this, I am who I am. And I couldn't be happier. HEIDI LOYA

because I strive for excellence in everything that I do. My scholastic journey may not have always been the smoothest and the swiftest, but life has shown me that perseverance, hard work, and faith are the keys to achieving ones goals. I have learned that the race is not won by the swiftest but he that endures the longest! MISTY BLACK

I did not allow the disappointment and embarrassment of failing the California Bar Exam several times to discourage me from becoming a Lawyer. Had I allowed my pride to be the dominant motivating factor, I would have quit after the first time. However, I never doubted that God had a purpose for my life or that I was destined for greatness! And on June 27, 2008 I was sworn in, while my family and friends witnessed my accomplishment. I am now licensed Attorney in the State of California! It is funny because the disappointment and devastation of failing the Bar seems like such a distant memory!!! I live by the mantra that "Winners are willing to do what losers won't!!!" I was raised by a single parent and became the first college graduate in my family in spite of the odds. I tried out for the varsity football team my freshman year in college, only to be denied. I returned one year later and not only did I make the team, but finished my collegiate career as a two year letter winner on scholarship. I then went on to a successful professional five year football career. I am now making the transition from a professional athlete to a successful businessman. I am a black boy because at the age of twelve I wrote down all of the aforementioned accomplishments on a sheet of paper in my dining room as my career goals, and eighteen years later I have been able to cross out each and everyone of them. I am a black boy because I persevere! I am a black boy because I have taken Harriet Tubman's advice and "keep going"! ANTHONY LOCKE

of the path I have taken with my career. I took myself out of my comfort zone. I had stability. A stable home and a stable job. And then I decided to switch things up a bit and created a life for myself where I was able to travel to different cities, different work environments, and experience different cultures. It was scary and unknown when I started, but I would not change a thing. KELLY QUINN

because I view everyday as a learning experience and am not too proud or foolish to admit that I don't know everything. I am a Black Boy because I know that through adversity, I reach my potential and discover my strength. I am a Black Boy because I respect my family and friends and realize that without them, life would be joyless. Black Boys know that their opinion of themselves is the most important and don't look to the world to validate them. I am a Black Boy because I embrace and celebrate my heritage instead of hating myself for being unique. I am a Black Boy because I LOVE LIFE AND CAN'T NOTHING OR NOBODY HOLD ME DOWN! :-) LESLIE COOPER

I am a Black Boy because there is no such thing as "no" to me. Possibilities are endless and entitlement is the sweater I wear over my button-down of pride. I work hard, I grind and I've never taken my blessings for granted.
I have been divinely favored in all that I have done: my accomplishments and my failures.
I am a Black Boy because I am a hustler on the block and a princess with a platinum card, all rolled into one. And I'm not ashamed of it one bit! In fact, I revel in it because I am heaven sent. AMY ELISA
